　SFL 2021は、1チーム4名、計8チームによるリーグ戦形式で実施。2020年までとは異なり、企業がオーナーとなってチームを編成する「チームオーナー制」や、使用禁止キャラクターを指定する「キャラクターBANルール」に代わって、アウェイチームが選手や使用キャラクターを事前に対戦相手へ申告する「ホーム&アウェイ事前オーダールール」を採用する点などが大きな変更点となる。
