Clearing Chrome browsing history is not enough

Since the browsing history of web pages is stored in the storage of the PC, many people think that it is enough to delete it. It's not wrong, but the fact is that browsing history is stored not only on local storage, but also on servers on the Internet. Therefore, if you have historical data that you are having trouble seeing, you cannot be relieved unless you delete the history in two places.

Delete browsing history stored in Chrome

First of all, I will explain how to delete the browsing history saved in the browser. Press the "Ctrl" + "H" keys to display the history. It's hard to forget if you remember the "H" in "History".

In the history, the pages viewed are organized in chronological order. It is convenient to use here when you want to delete the history while checking the contents. You can delete individual items by checking the box and clicking "Delete".

If you want to clear all the history, click "Clear history data". The screen will switch and a pop-up saying "Clear browsing history data" will be displayed. You can clear the history by checking "Browsing history" and executing "Clear data". By the way, this screen can also be displayed in one shot by pressing the "Ctrl" + "Shift" + "Del" keys.

Delete the search history (My Activity) stored on Google's server

If you are logged in with your Google account, your browsing history is also saved on the Internet. Therefore, if another user operates a PC that is logged in to your Google account, you can easily see the history associated with your Google account.

"My Activity" is on your Google Account page. Go to https://myactivity.google.com/.

To delete an activity, click Criteria for Deleting Activity and perform Delete. It is also possible to select and delete the period or the history of a specific service.

Disable My Activity

If you don't want to clear your My Activity history, you can disable My Activity. My activity is used by Google to serve you, rather than for your reference. By analyzing the user's history, it becomes easier to provide information that suits the user. If you find it inconvenient to disable it, you can always undo it.

To disable activity, click Activity Management and turn off Web and App Activity.

In "Account Management", "Location History" that records map search and action history in addition to browsing history, "Voice Activity" that improves the recognition accuracy of voice input, and to improve the accuracy of YouTube recommendations There are also "YouTube search history" and "YouTube playback history".
