I bought Rakuten Mobile iPhone SE "Bulk 1 yen"
Rakuten Mobile's campaign to sell the second generation iPhone SE at the main unit price of "1 yen in bulk" has become a hot topic. I actually bought it to see if I could really buy it for 1 yen.
Rakuten Mobile's iPhone SE campaign moved from "real 1 yen" to "bulk 1 yen" on February 26th. This campaign seems to be continuing even at the time of writing the manuscript, with the end date undecided.
The problem is that the iPhone SE is out of stock because it's so popular. In my case as well, I was about to give up because I was told, "I will contact you if there is stock, but it is undecided whether it will be stocked during the campaign." .
The campaign price for the iPhone SE is 1 yen for a line contract and 22,001 yen for a single terminal purchase. I already have a line, so when I tried to purchase it separately, the store clerk told me, ``You can sign up for a second line, buy it for 1 yen, and cancel the line if you no longer need it.'' .
It is known that the basic charge of Rakuten Mobile is "0 yen" up to 1 GB per month, but this is only for the first line, and from the second line onwards it starts at 1078 yen including tax. Even if you pay for this second line, it is attractive that the terminal price will be discounted by 22,000 yen.
Rakuten Mobile does not charge administrative fees at the time of contract, so if you cancel the second line within 20 months by simple calculation, it will be cheaper than purchasing the terminal alone. Personally, I'm reluctant to make an extra contract, but with such a price difference, I didn't have any reason to buy a single line, so I decided to make a second line contract.
What you need for the contract is your ID card and Rakuten member login information. When signing a contract, you will be asked to log in by entering your Rakuten Ichiba member ID and password on the tablet provided at the store.
I use a very long password on the premise of using password management software. Since it is difficult to enter this manually, I set a slightly shorter password in advance before heading to the store.
At the time of purchase, there was a history check to see if you had purchased an iPhone from Rakuten Mobile in the past. This seems to have a mechanism that can be inquired by name and date of birth. By purchasing the iPhone SE here, even if there is an iPhone campaign in the future, it seems likely that I will not be able to participate for the time being.
Since it was the second line, the explanation of Rakuten Mobile's service was simplified, and the contract procedure was completed in about 30 minutes, which is shorter than usual.
Will the 3rd generation be announced soon?
Apple is planning an announcement event at midnight on March 8th (3:00 am on March 9th) Japan time, including the latest processor and 5G compatibility. The appearance of the "3rd generation iPhone SE" with enhanced contents is expected.
On the other hand, the 2nd generation iPhone SE is equipped with the same "A13 Bionic" processor as the iPhone 11 generation, and its high cost performance is still alive. If you are currently using the iPhone 7 or 8 and are accustomed to fingerprint authentication, the sale of the 2nd generation iPhone SE can be said to be your target.
