Since the appearance of 2017, Face ID has been a major means of unlocking on most iPhones.Since it can be authenticated only with the face, unlocking and daily operations have become so easier.
However, recently, masks have become part of their lives.Unfortunately, the Face ID is not designed to work with the mask.
In the upper half of the face alone, it is often impossible to determine whether Face ID can allow access to the device.
This time, we will introduce some hints for those who are struggling to unlock the iPhone with Face ID when wearing a mask.
1.Use Apple Watch
The easiest way to unlock your iPhone with your Face ID is to use Apple Watch. If you have unlocked Apple Watch nearby, you can automatically unlock your iPhone.
To use this feature, Apple Watch must be paired with the iPhone and the iPhone must sign in to the Apple ID account.Unfortunately, this method cannot be used for high security apps that are used in financial services such as Apple Pay and banks.
Also, of course, it is a method that cannot be used by those who do not have Apple Watch.
2.Set another appearance
The appearance often changes depending on the schedule of the day.For example, it may be a completely different face when you are relaxing on a sofa or when you are doing makeup to go out to the city at night. With Face ID, you can set another appearance wearing a mask.
To set another appearance with Face ID, select Settings> Face ID and Passcode.Next, enter the passcode and click [Set another appearance].
The face ID uses not only the characteristics of the face but also the shape of the face, so the mask is fixed with the tape under the chin and the tip of the nose.
When scanning your face first, fold the mask in half and fix it to one side of the face.In the second scan, move the folded face mask to the opposite face.
There may be an error that "the face authentication is hindered", but it will be resolved after a few times.Note that Face ID does not always work because the Face ID is not designed to work even if there is an obstacle.
3.Enter the passcode and swipe
When you set Face ID, you will also be required to set the passcode.By entering this 6 -digit passcode and swiping upward, you can detour the Face ID.
If it is troublesome to enter a 6 -digit number every time, you can also set a 4 -digit passcode. However, it is not recommended because the risk of security increases.
To change the passcode, select [Settings]> Face ID and Passcode> Change the Passcode.
4.Use the iPhone SE Touch ID
Since the launch of iPhone X, Apple has adopted Face ID instead of Touch ID.However, the low -priced "iPhone SE" uses a Touch ID.
If you are planning to buy a new smartphone, you can use the Touch ID by selecting the iPhone SE.In addition to SE, old iPhone models have a Touch ID.
Unlike Face ID, you can open your iPhone with just your fingerprint, so there is no problem even if you wear it.
What about Face ID?
Face ID is attracting attention as a future security of the iPhone, but in reality it is not a perfect solution for everyone.Although there was a problem with the Face ID so far, the mask has added more difficult problems.
Thankfully, you still have the option of not using Face ID until you need it properly when you need it.You can also use Apple Watch, register another appearance, use a Touch ID, or use old -fashioned passcodes.
