Enable a Google TV-like experience on your Android tablet
Emphasis on entertainment.
Google will renew the interface of Android tablets with "Entertainment Space". This new interface gives you quick access to movies, shows, games and books in the Play Store. Entertainment Space will be available on Walmart's Onn tablets later this month, as well as existing and new tablets from other manufacturers such as Lenovo and Sharp.
Experience content seamlessly in 3 tabs
According to Google, this new interface is designed so that you don't have to navigate between apps using the Watch, Game, and Read tabs to provide a customized content experience.
On the Watch tab, you can switch streaming services, search for content to watch on Google TV, and view recommended YouTube videos. The "Keep watching" column below it may be noticed by anyone using the new Chromecast with Google TV in combination. Also, the content you are watching is displayed, so you can see the continuation of the previous one. The same goes for the Game tab, where the pins for the most played titles are displayed at the top for easy access. The Read tab also integrates "Google Play Books" for ebooks and audiobooks.
Is it aimed at appealing to cheap Android tablet users?
According to Google, Android tablet usage has risen by as much as 30%, but this news seems to prioritize mid-range and low-end Android tablets that are pervasive in the market. Walmart Onn tablets sell for $ 40 to $ 150 and are entry-level specs with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. These tablets are priced in the same price range as Amazon's entry-level Kindle tablets, and Fire HD 10 Kids tablets usually cost between $ 50 and $ 200. I am.
Apple's iPad and Samsung's tablets still dominate the global share of tablet devices. However, a small number of manufacturers, such as Lenovo and Amazon, that offer mid-range and low-end tablet devices are growing.
The Android tablet concept is still struggling to find a foothold. With Entertainment Space, Google may be able to build a one-stop content shop for users who buy cheap Android tablets. At least in the United States, it's an opportunity to bring Google's services to the market, where you can buy and rent movies and TV shows at prices comparable to Apple and Amazon.
