"Chromebook" global shipments increase year-on-year 75%--Canalys
A new report from Canalys shows that "Chromebook" continues to grow ahead of other product categories in the industry. Shipments in the second quarter rose 75% from a year earlier to 11.9 million vehicles.
提供:CanalysGlobal PC shipments were 12140 units, up 10 per cent from a year earlier, according to Canalys.
Growth in the tablet market slowed in the second quarter. Shipments reached 39.1 million, up 4 per cent from a year earlier.
Chromebook suppliers seem to be stepping up their investment in this product category. HP's Chromebook shipments rose about 116% year-on-year to 4.3 million vehicles in the second quarter, keeping it in first place.
In second place was Lenovo, with shipments of 2.56 million vehicles, up 82 per cent from a year earlier. Acer grew 83% to 1.86 million vehicles, ranking third. Dell and Samsung also made it into the top five. Dell is the only time a senior supplier has reduced shipments.
Brian Lynch, a research analyst at Canalys, believes that "Chromebook's success is extremely strong" and points out that the growth trend goes far beyond the comic book.
He explained that Chromebook ensures a solid position in all end-user segments of the industry.
"although schools have opened in major markets such as North America and Western Europe, the ecosystem of governments and educational institutions plans to integrate Chromebook into digital learning courses for a long time, and shipments continue to grow," Lynch said.
"in the field of education, Chrome' 's market share has been relatively certain, and Google plans to make a big bet on the business sector in 2021. We expect that we will pay close attention to the latest services, such as Google Workspace's new "personal subscription" and the "CloudReady" license promotion on the old PC to attract small businesses. "
In addition, Lynch also pointed out that in addition to Apple expanding the success of "M1" to the commercial field, Microsoft's launch of "Windows11" in mid-2021 shows that PC's operating system competition is trying to be "the fiercest" in a long time.
Lenovo ranks first in the PC market, including desktops, laptops and tablets. Shipments increased 23% to 24.7 million vehicles. Apple came in second, up 5 per cent to 20.6 million vehicles.
HP had the lowest growth in the top five, rising 2.7% to 18.6 million vehicles. Dell and Samsung also entered the top five after the first quarter.
Apple topped the list of tablets, with 14.2 million tablets shipped in the second quarter. Shipments from all suppliers are higher than before the pandemic. Samsung had 8 million vehicles, up 13.8 per cent from a year earlier.
Lenovo has dramatically increased its shipments of tablets. Shipments of 4.7 million vehicles, an increase of 77.5%. Amazon and Huawei Technologies (Huawei) are also in the top five.
Himani Mukka, a research analyst at Canalys, said that the tablet market grew for the fifth consecutive quarter compared with the same period last year, and there are many reasons to be optimistic about the future of the industry.
Mukka said, "demand from tablet consumers seems to be actively introduced in the commercial sector in the coming quarters, even if a slowdown cannot be avoided. Canalys expects that the integration of tablets and PC will be enhanced, making it possible for a smoother workflow transition between multiple devices. " It is especially attractive for enterprises that operate in a mixed way.
He points out that "iPad" and "Mac" apply to cases where the introduction of "Windows11on cloud" and its use on devices that can run its "Android" go beyond Apple's ecosystem and bode well for Tabrett suppliers, users and developers.
